This is an online reprint of an article written by Arthur R. Miller for The Atlantic magazine in 1967 about technology and surveillance.  It is eerie because it outlines many of the “privacy threats that we face now.”  “He basically predicted and laid out all of the arguments against the Total Information Awareness program and the current NSA programs that have been so much in the news.”
Anyway I thought that you might enjoy it.

This is an Article from the Washington Post about “The 81-page memo, which was declassified and released publicly yesterday, argues that poking, slapping or shoving detainees would not give rise to criminal liability. The document also appears to defend the use of mind-altering drugs that do not produce “an extreme effect” calculated to “cause a profound disruption of the senses or personality.”
