So like I said in the First Hancock is Racist post HERE i found Hancock to be a little problematic on the racial tip. However, while running the other day i found yet another reason why this film is racially fucked…warning spoilers
So, in the flick you learn that Will Smith is a reluctant superhero. He is a belligerent drunk that saves shit, but does so in a really unpleasant and rather destructive way.
Jason Bateman takes him under his white holy wing and shows him how to play nice.
During Batemans act of racially fucked philanthropy Charlize Theron (bateman’s wifey…or baby mama as FOX NEWS would call her if she were black (see them calling Michelle Obama such HERE)–you fucking racist pigs) gets all testy and doesn’t like her husbands decision all the while giving Smith looks.
It becomes obvious that Smith and Theron had something, but what we learn is like one big hop skip and jump back to miscegenation laws of yester year.
So Theron and Smith are paired. They are drawn to one another in this film. But there is a catch. If they get too close they loose their power. Basically the super hero in them dies when they get romantically involved. So if we want superheroes to exist no Theron/Smith romance. Good right? maybe.
What I see is this statement: Blacks and Whites cannot really get together romantically without a sacrifice of self. Basically you lose something when you do, further what you lose is ultimately no good. When there are no superheroes in the film crime goes up. So this means black white sex=crime goes up. Theron and Smith cannot get together for the sake of the safety of the world. Blacks and Whites cannot get together for the safety of the world…really?

I completely agree with you and thought the whole movie was terrible! Also did you are when the white man Mr holy called while smith a child while he was talking to the super hero chick? That reeks of racism!!! The movie attempts to reinforce the hiearchy – white men – white women – black men. They do this by making Mr white man holy the ‘good wholesome guy’ and then the white chick is okay as long as she stays by his side. I feel really disappointed in Will Smith for even making this film.

How come Will Smith Hancock character coudn’t have a black wife or a girl friend, and how come the good white boy have to be in these movies to showing the black person light like he’s too stupid to live. This movie get no love from me and Will Smith sold out again for some more fame.

I really appreciate your post and agree 100%. I saw this movie at a free preview and thought it is just about the most racist thing I have seen since ‘Birth of a Nation.’ Did you catch the ‘Sanford and Son’ music when Will is in prison? Even tho’ Sanford had good actors, I always thought Sanford was full of really horrid racial stereotypes.

I dont agree, the movie is about how people want impossible relationships cause that makes them feel more romantic

The movie was incredibly racist and sneaky about it.
It was a Hollywood subliminal message by racist White males to people of color (though mainly targeting Black males) to stay away from White women.
The point of the movie was to inject the subliminal message visually, and then cover the evil of it with a special effects, convoluted plot, and deniability.
What the writers and producers of Hancock did was disgusting. Will Smith was used and abused to push this sneaky racist garbage.

You, are a fuckin’ idiot. You would see no racism at all if you wouldn’t read it into anything. I liked the movie, and thought nothing of it at all. So, just because Will Smith happens to be a black man, we have to make the person who tries to help him black? I mean, really… think about what you’re saying.
Also, I find it a cool idea for these two “Gods” to lose their powers when they near eachother. I see no reason to read racism into it. Wow, Will Smith is black, and Charlize is white! Oooh so racist! You are the type of person who allows racism to live on.
If you’d stop screaming racism at inapropriate times, it would dissapear. Will Smith himself said that racism in America is dead.

Using your logic, you can call me a racist, based soley on the fact that all my girlfriends were white. If you wanted to interprate it in the way you did this movie, you could say “Well, you never had a black girlfriend, so you’re racist”. It makes no sense, and you have to read things into it that are never meant to be seen in that way.

I thought this movie was kind of reverse racist my self.
Made the white husband guy look in the way.
If it wasn’t for him the black guy and the white girl could ride off into the sunset together. Yay!
No way I would have taken her after she showed me she didn’t really care about me.
I would like to think that real guys have more self respect than that.

When I saw the movie i didnt see it this way. I think its just based on interpretation. Will Smith probably didnt see it this way neither. I guess the story would be different if the Supergirl was a J-Lo or Roselyn Sanchez and the guy who tries to improve Hancok ways was The Rock. But then there would have been so many pretty faces and known actors Will Smith wouldnt shine as bright. Not that he is not sexy, but he is the star of the film, he needs no competition. They prob chose a white, unknown guy for this reason. NOt everythin needs to have a hidden message.

sorry guys alot of you are WAY to racially sensitive. I am a black man and i didn’t get the smallest racist vibe from this movie. i think that you may be alarmists and you need to lighten up. good movie by the way. also i know alot of other black people that thought this was a good movie as well.
